About the assistant

What it is

The kitchen assistant in RaRa is an AI. It is built on Claude, a model made by Anthropic. It is not a person.

What it does

It reads photographs of recipe cards, and turns what you dictate or type into a recipe draft. It asks about things that are missing and answers questions about cooking. You check the draft and publish it yourself.

What it does not do

It only helps with cooking and recipes, and it will not take part in anything else. It can misread a card or get something wrong, so check amounts, temperatures and allergens before you rely on them. It does not give medical or nutrition advice.

Using it safely

Share only what the recipe needs; the assistant does not need your address or anything private. If it says something wrong, strange or upsetting, use Report this answer under the reply. We look at every report.

Young cooks

You need to be 13 or older to have your own RaRa account. RaRa follows Anthropic's safeguards for products that people under 18 use, and the assistant works the same way for everyone.

Where your words go

When the assistant first reads a photograph, PDF or dictated text into a draft, Claude runs on Amazon Bedrock in the EU, and Amazon states that it does not store what is sent, except an image its checks flag as illegal content. When you answer or talk to the assistant, your messages, the recipe and its photographs are processed by Anthropic in the US, and so is the recipe's text when the assistant checks it before you publish. Anthropic does not train its models on it. The privacy notice has the details.
